Hello from Essex, UK! I’m Lorna, a newbie to the group, and I’m absolutely blown away by all the lovely comments—thank you so much! 🥰 I’m trying my best to reply to everyone 😊. I thought I’d dive straight in and share some before-and-after photos of our home!
We moved into our 1930s house nearly three years ago, with plans to find a place that was already ‘finished’. But when we stumbled upon this charming ‘doer-upper’, we fell in love, despite having zero budget to do it up! And so began our slow and steady renovation journey.
As with many older homes, we inherited some interesting features—like the quirky hedgehog tiles and the infamous 90s classic dolphin bathroom tiles! If you look closely at the before photos, you can even spot Mrs. Tiggywinkle peeking out. 🙃
We’ve only managed to finish two rooms so far: the living room and our master bedroom. But we did give the kitchen a lovely ‘glow-up’ by painting the cupboards and tiles, and we’ve also worked on a small section of the garden. It’s all about making progress little by little, and each step brings us closer to our dream home.
Next on our list is the little one’s room, and we’re excited to get started on that! Renovating a home on a tight budget is challenging, but the process has been incredibly rewarding. I’m so excited to share our journey with you all, and I can’t wait to see what the next few years bring as we continue to transform this house into our forever home!
