DIY Fruit Roll-Ups: A Healthy Snack You Can Make at Home

Skip the store-bought snacks filled with added sugars and preservatives — and make your own healthy fruit roll-ups at home! These homemade treats are not only delicious and fun to make, but they’re also packed with real fruit, vitamins, and fiber. Perfect for kids, lunchboxes, or a guilt-free adult snack, fruit roll-ups are easier to make than you might think.

What You’ll Need:

  • 2–3 cups of chopped fresh or frozen fruit (strawberries, mangoes, blueberries, apples — any combo works!)

  • 1–2 tablespoons of honey or maple syrup (optional, depending on fruit sweetness)

  • 1 tablespoon of lemon juice (helps preserve color and flavor)

How to Make It:

  1. Blend the Fruit
In a blender or food processor, blend your fruit until smooth. Add sweetener and lemon juice if desired.

  2. Prepare the Baking Sheet
Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or a silicone baking mat. Pour the fruit mixture onto the sheet and spread it evenly — about 1/8 inch thick.

  3. Dry the Fruit
Bake at a low temperature (around 140°F or 60°C) for 4–6 hours. You’re not cooking the fruit — just slowly drying it out. A food dehydrator works great too.

  4. Cool and Cut
Once the fruit is no longer sticky to the touch and peels easily, let it cool. Then cut into strips and roll them up with parchment paper.

Storage Tip:
Store your homemade fruit roll-ups in an airtight container for up to 1 week — or longer if refrigerated.

Now you have a wholesome, tasty snack made with real ingredients and zero guilt. Happy snacking!
