Transforming a 1956 Cape Style House into a Cozy Cottage: Help with Curtain Choices!

We recently purchased a charming 1956 Cape-style house and have been working hard to renovate it. Our goal is to make the 1,600-square-foot space feel like a cozy cottage. Slowly, we’re adding personal touches and decorating it to create a warm and inviting atmosphere. I’ve attached a few pictures of the house to give you an idea of what the space looks like overall, but there’s one area where I could use some help—curtains!

Curtains are an essential part of any room’s decor, and I’m struggling to find the perfect ones that will complement the Cape-style aesthetic while also enhancing the cottage vibe I’m going for. The house features a mix of traditional and modern elements, and I want the curtains to be versatile, adding warmth without overpowering the space.

I’m considering a few options: light, airy linen curtains to maintain a breezy, relaxed feel; perhaps some vintage-inspired floral patterns to bring a touch of rustic charm; or even neutral-toned curtains to keep things subtle and let the room’s colors shine. I’m also debating between long, flowing curtains or short, more practical styles, depending on the room.

I’d love any suggestions or tips on choosing curtains that would enhance the cozy, cottage-like feel. Should I stick to more classic choices, or is it okay to play with bolder patterns or textures? Any advice on layering or how to create privacy while still letting in natural light would be greatly appreciated.
