Four years ago, I began a project that would transform our farm into a personal oasis. It all started with clearing some land, and little by little, I built the foundation of what is now our own campground-style retreat. The journey began with the creation of a covered bridge, a unique addition to our property that immediately added charm and character. I followed that with the construction of an Old Corn Crib Pergola and a 16×20’ pavilion, each one designed to enhance our outdoor experience.
Our property quickly became more than just a farm—it became a sanctuary. We’ve built a fire pit where we gather with friends and family, making memories around the flames. The whole setup has allowed us to enjoy the outdoors comfortably from April to November, with occasional winter visits as well. One of the best parts of our journey has been harnessing the power of the land. We’ve set up a system to generate our own power, which has been incredibly rewarding and eco-friendly.
In addition to the structures and power systems, we’ve also worked hard to cultivate the land itself. We’ve started a garden and planted an orchard, adding fresh food and beauty to our space. There’s something special about watching our plants grow and knowing that we’ve put in the work to create something sustainable and rewarding.
Overall, this space has become an extension of our lives—a place of peace, creativity, and connection. Whether we’re gardening, enjoying the pavilion, or simply sitting by the fire, our time here has brought us closer to nature and to each other. We look forward to continuing to develop our dream for years to come!
